Additional Information: Country of Origin: China Product Description: Nixon x The Rolling Stones: Fast & Loud at Nude Bowl "I’ve never skated this before, and with all these people, there’s some good pressure to get tricks."
The session at Nude Bowl was filled with heat and heavy weather. Thunderstorms rolled over the hillside while the valley experienced scorching temperatures of 100 degrees. The crew gathered for a loud session, driven by the collaboration between Nixon and The Rolling Stones, set to launch on August 30.
To channel the energy of true pioneers in rock and roll, spray paint, jackhammers, a deserted pool, and a heavy crew were enlisted. The team was excited to test out the new Stones watches and rip through a piece of skateboard history. They embarked on a journey through untamed desert roads, leaving behind clouds of dust as they sped towards their destination. High clearance was necessary, and Ruby Lilley hitched a ride with Neal Mims while others arrived in various groups, featuring skaters like Zach Miller, Phoenix Sinnerton, Ryan Carrell, Dane Barry, Mikey “Mooks” Morris, and Christian Hosoi, a familiar face at Nude Bowl.
Grant Brittain, an iconic skateboarding photographer, captured the action. Joined by other friends with cameras, they documented the session up close or from the banks above. Cinematographer Joe Krolick captured multiple video angles using a drone, tripod, and boots on the ground.
However, just a few days before the shoot, the pool was completely destroyed. The crew took on the challenge of removing a boulder with a jackhammer and patching up bullet holes. They then applied a fresh coat of paint to create a blank canvas for new artwork.
In the early hours of the morning, muralist Damin Lujan began sketching and painting the Nixon x Rolling Stones hieroglyph. Initially skeptical about the collaboration, he quickly realized the potential and excitement of this project. Using spray paint cans, he created a steady flow of artistry on the walls.
Phoenix Sinnerton, a young Santa Cruz skater, fearlessly performed frontside ollies and backside airs in the deep end. Ruby Lily, another rising star for Madness Skateboards, tackled crail-sliding before taking control of the death box. Zach Miller, a pro for Hosoi Skateboards, effortlessly carved around and executed tall frontside airs. Mooks captured a front nosepick clip, and Dane kept the session energetic from the first slash to every run in between. Christian Hosoi initiated a death-box train with a frontside grind, followed by an iconic layback grind. Watch the full video to witness all the impressive tricks.
The day was interrupted by sporadic downpours, leading to occasional breaks in the session. Some skated in the rain, while others sought shelter. Paint trays were used to remove water from the pool, allowing for more tricks. When it was all over, the crew left no trace, pouring out a fresh bucket of water to bury the evidence.
